Our Story
They say that breast is best, that breastfeeding is natural, but they don't tell you how challenging it'll be. This is my story & I'm here to make your breastfeeding journey just that tad bit easier!
From the moment I found out I was pregnant, I knew I wanted to exclusively breastfeed, after all I was constantly told it was the best way to feed bub. During my pregnancy people would ask if I wanted to breastfeed, and I would say of course and they'll reply with "well that's if you can". I felt a little let down when I heard those words, but I thought to myself "I can & I will breastfeed my baby!".
After hours and weeks of research into galactagogue (milk producing/boosting) foods and herbs, I finally created my own lactation tea blend. During my hypnobirthing classes my doula asked me if I was taking formula to the hospital, and I told her that I was packing my breastfeeding tea in my hospital bag. I felt so content and empowered about my choice.
My baby boy entered this world in June 2020, they immediately placed him onto my chest for the first feed. An hour later with a screaming newborn, we were still yet to have our feed. He just wouldn't latch. After some more guidance by the midwife, he latched and started gulping away. It felt so surreal. Little did I know that it was the beginning of a weird and wonderful journey.
I began drinking my tea from the second day in hospital, and till now my breast milk supply is still going strong. My breasts were full in between feeds, and I could feel my let down reflex each time bubs had a feed.
When I got home from the hospital, I found myself constantly thirsty and peckish (especially in between night feeds). So from the moment I got out of bed, I would boil the kettle and brew 3 teabags in my large 750ml glass bottle and drink it through the day. I also had a large thermos bottle that I kept refilling with cold, filtered water, also drinking it through out the day. I was always thirsty! As for snacks, while bubs napped I would quickly whip up a big batch of healthy, lactation bickies & have 1 in between meals or in the middle of the night. The bickies were a life saver! Instead of eating chocolate & junk food to curb my hunger, my lactation biscuits were my go to.
Well that's my story, if you have any questions please reach out via the Contact page or our Instagram. We're always here to help and support you through your breastfeeding journey.
I'm beyond excited to share my lactation goodies with you all, in hope that you'll love & enjoy them as much as I do!
